Room 9's maths class have been learning about translations and transformations. As you can see from the slide below they had to make a pattern from a shape and make sure that it could fit in properly. The finished product looked great! Loud Shirt

On Friday the 18th of September there will be a loud shirt day. Loud shirt day is whenstudents get to wear a loud, bright shrit to school. Students that perticipate have to pay $1. But the other half of you must be uniform. So find a loud shirt and help the school rase money for the loud shrit!

Room 9's Tech challenge

A few week ago Room nine had a class compition. It was a tech challenge. A Tech Challenge is where you have to make something out of the material given. We all had to go in pairs and make a flag pole. The aim of it was to make the flag pole the highest it could be. We had 10 minutes to plan and 30 minutes to make it. The winning pair got to compete against other classes and thee wining class got to go to the hawkes bay finals. Here are some pictures of what room nine did.

hurting someone or someone's feelings which can effect there lives.
Hurting someone's feelings on purpose.
Hurting someone who doesn't desevere it repetitively.

Horror disco..

On Thursday 13th of August TIS is holding a horror disco to rise money for our schools guide dog Gretal. The theme is horror so everyone sould be wearing there scary outfits! This will be a fun night for the school and all the money is going to a our guide dog. So if your going have fun and hope you have a great time.

Ski Trip

On the 1st of September 40 year eights and 40 year sevens are going to Whakapapa ski fields for a jam packed day of fun, games and to learn of to ski or snowboard. They will be leaving around 5 am in the morning and will get back around 8:30 pm. Around 2 year sevens and 2 year eights from each class will get to take up this amazing opportunity. From our class Liam, Jack , Shoanna , Laura and Sian get to go snowboarding or ski so hope you guys have fun!!!

Kia Kaha!

Our Class is learnig about Kia Kaha for our inquiry learning this term. Kia Kaha means stand tall and be strong! Us a class we have learnt about the types of bullying, we watched a bullying movie and are writing a stories about how we can stand up to bullies! As a class we are trying to be Bully Free!!! Cross Country

Its time for cross country so rm9 have been training hard. Its only two days away on Friday the 14th. We have to run 2.6 km. Year 7 girls go first then year 8 girls next year 7 boys and last but not less year 8. So good luck. Also check out this cool slideshow about cross country.

Science Inquiry

Room 9 has been studying fair testing for science. Our first fair test was water lilies. We put them in water to see how fast or slow they would open their petals. We then made one change to our water lily. We changed the thickness of the paper to see if that had any effect on it.
We also have gone over the process of how to fair test our flying straws. We’ve changed our variables to try to get our straws to fly further. We made our flying straws out of straws and paper rings one bigger than the other. After the changes we made to our straws we noticed that the shorter the straw is the less distance it travels.
